Offices people actually want to come back to

Since everyone learned they could work from home, the office has had to earn the commute. Printed walls are a cheap part of that.

An office no longer competes with other offices. It competes with a spare room at home, and it has to be worth the drive.

Most of what makes that difference is not ours to sell. But a printed wall is one of the cheapest changes a building can make, it happens over a weekend, and it changes how a floor feels far more than the cost suggests.

Three of the offices in our portfolio show different versions of it. A converted office for Zutari carries a geometric pattern in ochre and charcoal that runs from the stairwell into two meeting rooms and a boardroom, so the identity is consistent without any of it being a logo. Mimecast is quieter and more architectural. My Players uses figures and bold graphic panels through an open-plan floor and the corridors off it.

What they have in common is that the graphic is applied to the wall rather than hung on it. There is nothing to knock, nothing to dust and no frames to align, which matters in a space that gets rearranged.

Two practical notes for anyone specifying this.

Corridors and stairwells are the best value in the building. They are the walls everybody passes and nobody has budgeted for, and they are usually a single seamless piece.

And glass is available to you as well as plaster. Frosted vinyl on a meeting room turns a goldfish bowl into a room, and it can carry a pattern rather than just an opaque band.
